View Full Version : Extra System Mail Folders On Florida Servers?

After moving to the new server in Florida I'm curious as to why all of the email accounts for all users got 3 extra folders, each owned by root. These are:
INBOX.Drafts
INBOX.Sent
INBOX.Trash

The regular Drafts, Sent, and Trash folders also exist of course. Is this some interaction between having done a system restore (which would create Drafts, Sent, and Trash but not owned by root) and the mail server?

More importantly: how do I get rid of them?

are you using squirrelmail?

if so, you can select which folders the mail uses, and you can delete the ones that are default assuming they don't contain any mail you want.

For squirrelmail:
log in
at the main inbox screen choose "folders"
at the bottom of the window "subscribe / unsubscribe" as desired

Hope that helps.

Thanks Dan,

I tried that, unfortunately the INBOX.xxxx variants don't show up in any of the Folder lists (subscribe, delete, rename). They do however show up in SquirrelMail's folder list on the left hand side. They also (of course) show up in the IMAP client software.

Going into the file manager of DA doesn't help either as they are all owned by root.root and are therefore undeletable.

interesting... mine were owned by my user name...they did show up again, but were deletable and unsubscribable.

I had the same problem when I moved servers. Before you can unsubscribe from the INBOX.xxxx variants, you have to reassign where the special mail goes. Under options/folder preferences/special folder options switch the Trash, Sent Draft folders back to what they were on your original install (In my case just Sent, Trash, and Drafts). Then, you can unsubscribe from the INBOX.xxxx folders.
