View Full Version : Luck of the Irish! Spread the word - another 2/1 Sale!

Joe

On 3/17 we'll be offering another 2 for one sale to accomodate some calls we've received that missed out on our recent sale.

This will be a ONE DAY ONLY sale, valid ONLY Monday 3/17.

Same terms:

Applies to upgrades and new accounts only (a new account is defined as a hosting account on a domain we haven't hosted in at least 90 days or an individual we haven't had as a reseller for at least 90 days)

Applies to both regular hosting and reseller accounts

Does not apply to domain registration, or any other add on service.

Cancelling your account and signing up during the sale will not yield 2 for 1 on the same domain name unless you are upgrading to a higher priced plan. Cancelling a reseller account and signing up during the sale will not yield 2 for 1 unless you are upgrading to a higher priced plan.

You can either double your allotment of quotas on a particular plan, or apply the plan to two hosting accounts instead of one.

You can upgrade your current plan to a higher level and take advantage of the 2 for 1 - if you pay yearly you will receive a refund on the remaining unused balance of your yearly plan minus the discount for paying yearly.

You can double the set plan sizes on our quoted web hosting or reseller pages only, specially designed packages are NOT elegible for this promotion.

The plan will stay with you as long as you remain a customer in good standing with HostPC - if you later upgrade during a period where 2 for 1 is not being offered you revert back to a non-doubled plan

You choose whether you want 2 plans for the price of 1 or doubled plan size at the time of purchase - you cannot change it later

Our 30 day money back guarantee is not price protection, it is to be used if you are dissatisfied with our service - not to cancel and sign up during the sale

The concept of the 2 for 1 sale is to attract new business and promote upgrading.

Very Important: We maintain a relationship with Dixiesys and will not knowingly accept customers transferring from Dixiesys. We're not intending to be in competition with Dixiesys - there's plenty of room for everyone -- both independent companies offer outstanding service for your hosting needs.

yes...but it must be a new account...you cant cancel your account and the resign up...must be a new account or an upgrade

Right, I was wondering about the upgrade. How would that work?

upgrade to the next level or higher...you pay that price and get double the quotas

Do I have to buy a year in advance to keep the double quotas, or can I pay monthly? If I do get the double quotas while paying monthly, if I decide later to go ahead and pay for a year, will I keep the double quotas?

I wish I had known you were going to be offering this stuff when I signed a week ago. I saw the 2/1 sale post and thought it mean Feb 1st, so I didn't bother looking at the post. :/

Do you know if you guys are ever going to offer some sort of account upgrade packages where you pay like $20 and get a few extra gigs of bandwidth and more storage space permanently added to your account? I can't afford upgrading to the next package for a year (that's why I went with you guys in the first place, you have low prices), and I'm kind of miffed about missing out on this sale you're having, especially when being a brand new customer.

I'm not trying to be aggressive or anything, but it's not particularly enjoyable knowing that someone singinup up a week after I do twice the benefits that I did for about the same price.. and if they get the plan below mine, they get almost the exact same as what I get but at a lower price.

I just signed up a week ago myself, I wish I had known the promo would have come sooner than later, really sucks that the people I recommended coming here are getting more than what I got just a couple days after.

I was also wondering if I purchased 2-3 domains, if they could all point to the same account, and share the same space.

Hi I found out about this special recently and I am very interested. I just want to clear up something...by doubling quotas you mean I will have double the disk space, double the bandwith, and double the email accounts (even though I won't need this last feature)?

So if I sign up for the starter package I'll be permitted 700MB of disk space and 8GB of transfer?

OK, I read it and I comprehend, but I just need to ask you to be sure.

1) The sale is in effect from today (March 8) through March 17.

2) For a reseller account, I can get:[list]1200 MB storage (600x2)
16 GB transfer (8x2)
40 sites (20x2)
for $12 a month
or $120 a year
and it doesn't matter if I get 2 separate plans or combine them because it still adds up to the same, so why not make it easy and have everything in one place[list]

3) The reseller account includes everything in terms of features that I would get with a regular hosting account, plus more (multiple domains rather than just one).

4) What does it cost if monthly file transfer runs over?

Thank you,
Dean

Hi,
I have few question regarding the database support. If I sign up personal account, How many database I will get? Does number of database apply to 2 for 1 promotion? Also, do you support trasaction safe table for my-sql? One last question, is there any guarantee up time?

Thanks,

JC

Wow. What a guy. Joe's the man.

I'll be signing up in a couple of days. Thanks for the 2-for-1 offer; that's a nice little extra I probably won't even use for a while, but it will be fun to have all that extra space sitting around to play with. What's even more exciting is the prospect of being able to put my personal sites in their own domains rather than as directories in one domain. (it's the little things that make life great)

By the way, dbmasters (Dan) pointed me over here. I know him from www.Hiveminds.info . I figured if he says you're good to host with then you must be good to host with.

Every account gets 5 MySQL databases - that doesn't double. Since there's unlimited tables, more than 5 really isn't necessary.

"transaction safe table" ? Not sure what that is.

No, we don't offer an uptime guarantee. I don't believe any host can offer a guarantee (other than those that charge $20 a month and prorate refunds). What I do offer is my promise to keep the servers accessible 24x7 - or as close to that as possible. Outages at Rackshack are beyond my control - and I can't compensate clients because RS doesn't compensate me. Outages, cable breaks, SYN/Floods are a fact of life on the internet - no one person or company can asked to be responsible.

Since Feb 1, our monitoring shows less than 1 hr of downtime - for an average of 99.759% - I think thats respectable.

5 database definitly more than enough for my use
for transaction safe table, basically I'm looking for support of my-sql table type InnoDB or BDB. You can find more information in this URL, http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Table_types.html
99.759 definitly is a greate number. Keep up the good work :!:

Looks interesting tho - I'd have to do some additional research on it - not sure if Ensim would support transaction safe tables.

What's 'support and service' like? How long does it usually take for a response. Who will be responding? Will they know what they're talking about?

Are the servers monitored constantly? Any kind of backups? Etc, etc.

What are your plans for the future? Are you going to grow really big in a couple years and sell to Interland? Or will you try to keep it manageable and stay in business for as long as you can imagine doing it?

Price is nice, but the intangible aspects are important to me too. Again, I think I know the answers but I just figured I'd ask anyway.

We're able to respond to tickets usually in 2hrs or less... sometimes 4. I will be responding, and if I'm not available Nick or another tech will promptly and (hopefully) thoroughly answer yout questions. As the need arises, we'll add more staff to assist users.

Yes, we're monitored constantly. I've got scripts running on each server that automatically restart services that get shut down (for whatever reason). Backups are provided in the user directory, and are updated nightly at 2am.

Support phones are availble 24x7 - no questions asked. The toll free number rings in my house, cell phone or if necessary, sends calls to voice mail. I haven't sent a call to voicemail (unless I've been on the phone with another client) in over a year. I answer all calls personally at this point.

Plans for the future? I've been doing this for 4 yrs - I've got NO plans to change, or sell out to anyone. This is my family's income. As I've said before, my wife is very ill, and this business keeps me close to her, and supports our financial requirements. This works - and is successful, I'm not going anywhere for a VERY long time.

Where can I find the details of the reseller accounts? I read the brief stats (bandwith, storage, etc.) but is there any additional info available?

I think you mentioned that there are 5 MySQL dbs available per account - if I'm a reseller and I have 20 sites - does each *site* have 5 MySQL dbs or just my reseller account has 5 total?

Yes - each "site" gets 5 MySQL databases ... and the amount of bandwidth/disk space you assign to it under your reseller plan. For instance, if you have a reseller plan with 1gb of space, you can "divy" that space up any way you need to.

Hope that helps.

I've been in business for 4 yrs as HostPC - 3 yrs of active domain hosting and design. This can be verified by doing a whois lookup: http://www.netsol.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois?hostpc.com

Feel free to pay monthly if you're more comfortable doing that - you can always upgrade to a yearly payment later if that works out for you.

The best interpretation of ASP on Linux is through Sun's Chilisoft software, and that is no where near 100% compatible to true ASP.

We can add apache_asp, but thats even less compatible with true .asp.

So no, at this time, there's no schedule or plans to add .asp support.

Sorry

If I recall correctly, "Apache ASP" is pretty much a Perl knockoff...

ChiliSoft was recently purchased by Sun, and they released SunOne, which is an ASP emulator that I have played with a little bit. it actually is pretty cool, and pretty compatible, but it is a whopping huge pain in the @ss to set up for ODBC on *nix machines...WAY harder than it has to be.

Though it looks promising for the future (if they move SunOne to support .NET anyway) I wouldn't recommend anyone implement it unless it's a dedicated server for one domain.

Okay, real newbie to domain names here...

Let's say I get the Starter package. That gets me hosting for 2 domains, right?

What about sub-domains? Is there charge for that, and if so what would it be? Is it hard to set them up?

This deal, by the way, looks unbelievable. Thanks!

(Howdy, Hiveminders!)

Joe

Yes, 2 domains, subdomains (sub.domain.com) is free - limited only by the amount of space you have.

You can get 2 domains at the posted quotas, or one at double the quota...

But I do not see this option. Interested in the Business package (900MB space).

Thanks for the reply. I can see how to put 2 orders through ok. But how do I choose to pay only once?

After I fill in the form, I get a page with 2 options: Pay Monthly or pay annualy No option not to pay or pay later.

Do you mean that if I just fill in the form, follow one of the 2 links but not send any money, I have actually bought the package? A bit confused on this point.

Thanks.
