Testing Hostpcs Strength!

So on one of my sites a member posted his story about his car getting repoed when he owns it outright. It has generated a lot of buzz on the net and other car forums. We are getting slammed with views right now.

Actually, I can't even hit the site, that's not good. Hopefully it will be back soon and when it is I will post the link, it is a very entertaining story.

Not oo bad, only three outtages of about 5 minutes, seems like the db gets overloaded.

Well, with the kind of traffic generated by sudden attention such as major publicity via web, TV, radio or what have you, all that on a server that is shared with dozens of other site still getting their normal traffic...well, a burp is not that surprising. If a site starts getting big, and getting traffic like that on a regular basis it usually means it's time to start looking at a dedicated server.

I wouldn't say thats the case in your situation, since this is kind of a unique situation, and I presume not the norm.

Yeah, I would expect it to subside this even...oh...looks like I got suspended. Sheesh one day of big activity.

Our site is small and we rarely use over 2GB on bandwidth per month. It is a shock to me and all the members. :ph34r:

I received a webpage that says this domain has been suspended. It is back now. It was suspended for like 10 minutes. I couldn;t hit any of the pages ont he site without receiving that message during that time.

That is the craziest thing I've ever read. The story is so out there that I was seriously expecting it to be an April Fools Hoax.

We were experiencing a VERY VERY heavy load on the servers due to the "spammer" - aka "Former Customer"... all in all, I think it handled the load pretty good :) We even had a reboot in the middle of it.

Not sure why you got a suspended message, thats odd. I'll have to look into it.

Heck no I don't feel let down. I knew you were dealing with the spammer problem and in reality, I would never expect to have the traffic I have had the last few days. It is slowing downa bit, but I am starting to find the story on some non-car related sites so there is going to be a little spiking I guess.

The little hiccups and even the suspended thing weren't a big deal since they were short lived.
