I'm trying to understand Add-on domains. Tell me if I've got this right, please.

Subdomains: a folder in your site referenced through a domain formed like subdomain.mydomain.com. It could also be referenced as www.mydomain.com/subdomain-folder.

Add-on domains: a folder in your site referenced through a domain formed like www.addondomain.com. It could also be referenced as www.mydomain.com/addondomain-folder.

So the only difference (other than the URL) is that you'd have to register another domain name for an add-on domain? Reporting would be separate from mydomain.com in both instances? or neither?

Hello caddickj

let me see if i can explain this. we are in a learning process as well with this new control panel so be patient as we learn too

subdomains - blah.YOURDOMAIN.com - they must be created in the control panel. the control panel creates a sub-folder and a dns entry to make it work. i'm not completely sure that you can access it by going to YOURDOMAIN.com/subdomainfolder

add-on domains - intended to be a totally separate domain, with different content. DOMAIN 1 and DOMAIN2, etc. yes, you must by that extra domain name.

does that answer your question?

It could also be referenced as www.mydomain.com/addondomain-folder.

To add to what Nick said...I don't believe you can do what you mention above.

What I believe you can do instead is go to www.DAServer.com/addondomain-folder just like with your main domain, though I'm not positive on that.
