View Full Version : Attention Ripplehost Customers
I spoke with Jason Silvergate (President/CEO Pegasus Web Technologies - where the Ripplehost servers were located) today, and he informed me that sometime this week he will be opening the former Ripplehost servers to FTP access for a period of 24-48 hours, (I believe ONLY FTP) so clients can attempt to retrieve their data.
I dont know when, or IF for certain this will happen, but he indicated to me verbally that it WOULD happen this week sometime.
If you had a Ripplehost account and are now hosted by us, and lost data, open a helpdesk ticket, and myself and my staff will attempt to make connections to the FTP servers there (you'll need to provide us with your login information, usernames passwords, etc) and retrieve data in your account. We make NO GUARANTEES that this will work, or that we'll be able to pull the data, but we will try for you.
Good luck recovering your data, if you need our assistance, please contact us through the helpdesk.
Joe
Update: I have a good source that tells me 2pm ET tomorrow the servers will be up for this...
Like I said, no guarantees, but it's worth a shot.

As a Ripplehost refugee I would like to thank you for your help and for being a GREAT web host operator. This is another example of going above and beyond the call of duty for your customers.
I was lucky (smart) enough to get a full backup of my site using Cpanel just before Jason deactivated Cpanel. I moved my site here a long time ago (November) but I was still using the space for experimentation and overflow from my space here.
I know there are some who are stranded there who are hoping to get data that is contained in MySQL databases. Is it possible to get that data via ftp? I would not know how to do it. I think they may have to get a database dump or backup somehow.
Thanks again Joe!
I can only hope that there's a backup file there, or that in the cpanel structure there's a way to retrieve the files manually that make up the database.
If there's a backup file there, or if Jason opens all ports to the server (not just FTP), that'll be a HUGE relief for a lot of people I'm sure. Starting at 2pm tomorrow, we'll know I guess, and we'll see what we can recover for our customers that have asked.

Update from another "source" (although I dont know reliability on this) the last online server will be taken down by the end of the week...
Supposedly if the nameservers are
NS5.RIPPLEHOST.COM 69.72.229.130
NS6.RIPPLEHOST.COM 69.72.229.131
it'll go offline at that time.
Again, I dont have clarification on that from anyone reputable, but it's in the grapevine.
any updates yet? :(

I just checked and Cpanel access to Server2.Ripplehost.com is back online. Server1 is still offline so I am not sure if it is coming back... it was dead even before Jason disabled Cpanel on both servers.
So... if you have data there you should backup ASAP. Instructions are here (http://www.ripplehost.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1644).
