I had a phpbb forum hosted on ripplehost. I have backed up the database. I would now like to import this database in a forum on one of my hostpc hosted domains. I'm clueless wrt how I need to go about doing this.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

You need to install phpBB and SMF so that they both use the same database. Then, import your phpBB backup using the Admin Control Panel. (Alternatively, you can probably use MyPHPAdmin to create a database and import the backup into this database, but I am not that advanced. The important thing is that the phpBB backup and SMF must use the same database.)
Next, run the phpBB-to-SMF convertor from the SMF site. You can then remove phpBB if you installed it to get the backup restored.
