View Full Version : What kind of promotion would you like? You tell US!
We're trying to come up with some great ideas for a 4th of July Sale that'll knock their socks off.
I was thinking of a $25 promotion like we had on Memorial Day...
I was thinking of a discounted domain registration day ...
I was thinking of "free" domain name registration (with 6 months of hosting)
...
Just some ideas we're tossing around. My question is, what would YOU like to see? What would be your ideal web hosting solution? Tell us, you never know what we can come up with :)

Joe,
I voted "other"...
Is most of your target audience people who are new to hosting? If so, many are probably in the same position as I was, domainless. As such, perhaps some combination would lure them in:
One thought: Offer a $35 first year year promotion on your starter plan, with the added option of a $5 domain registration if needed. The domain registration for $5 is for the first year only. Someone could then be up and running for $40 their fist year. I realize that this provides more space/transfer than the $25 plan from Memorial Day, so I don't know if this is attractive enough for you to offer it.
Whatever you do with your promotions, please keep the support/service at today's high levels. The last thing that we all want to have happen is to have the service level decline.
The last thing that we all want to have happen is to have the service level decline.
I assure you, that will NEVER happen ... no questions asked.

I voted for 2/1 but I changed my mind...I think something like the Memorial Day sale is more enticing.
So, Memorial Day pricing with a discount on Domain name registration? :)
I really like the 2-for-1 sale I was able to participate in. I purchased the small reseller plan of 1200 MB for $120 per year. If it ever gets close to being filled up I'd like to buy the large plan at 2-for-1 also. I hope you'll offer that type of thing again (but I'm in no hurry). Thanks again by the way.
Regarding domain registration: Please don't make them too cheap. My problem is I have too many already. Just got a "couple" more last night, in fact. I'm the proud new owner of a 3-character domain: D9R.com Why? Just because. Because it's cool to be able to type 3 characters and go to a site. (In case you're wondering what 'd9r' means, it's after that old tradition of naming where D is the first letter of my name, R is the last, and there are 9 letters in between.)

[b]In any case here is a deal idea that would get me to sign up in an instant:
Choose any package listed on our website, if you choose to pay annually, you normally pay 11 months, get one month free. For 24 hours only, if you pay YEARLY, you pay for EIGHT months, instead of 11. Folks, it doesn't get ANY better than this. This is a ONE DAY ONLY BLOWOUT. We're adding new servers after Christmas - this sale will NOT be repeated. We added SEVERAL customers today before we decided to open this up on WHT! Dont forget - our 2for1 sale is STILL in effect until 12/25, so all quotas are DOUBLED for this sale too!
For instance - buy a starter package. Normally pay $43.89 - for this sale only, pay just $31.92! Buy a Personal package for only $55.92 - instead of $98.89. A business package, which is normally $153.45, now just $111.60! Prices will remain the same for as long as you maintain the account at HostPC.
This special is offered for new customers, and current customers that wish to upgrade!! Act now, before it's over.
[b]Double quotas and 12 months for the price of 8. Swing a deal like that and you're sure to get plenty of new signups including myself
Ooo, wow, pay 8 months up front and you get a year. The normal rate now is 10 months = a year, by the way (not 11). But 8 certainly sounds enticing. Let's see, for the one I was referring to, that's 52x8=416. Yep, that's tempting alright. But are we gonna put you out of business Joe?
Wow - that sale hammered us... I don't think I can do double quotas AND pay for 8 months - I need to retain a profit margin on the accounts, and that one would be cutting it REAL close. When we ran that 8 month promotion last time, our stated quotas were considerably less than what they are now - we've increased basic bandwidth and disk space on every account since then.
Sorry JBrown - this one I can't do.
How about throwing in a free puppy?
The fact that you increased quotas makes those 2 specials sound close enough to being the same.
Speaking of "maintaining a profit margin," for a few moments I had the idea of buying that 'extra' disk storage of 200MB for the one-time fee of $15. Theoretically I could double my current plan from 1200MB to 2400MB for $90 and then continue to pay the $120/year. And I thought, how could you afford that? Then I saw the 'catch' is that the bandwidth isn't increased so it isn't as appealing, and people probably don't do what I'm talking about, and it's therefore better to just buy the next size plan as a whole rather than in pieces. Am I missing anything?
