View Full Version : Notice of Price Increase:
We're changing our pricing structure slightly.
Currently, we offer 200mb upgrades to your account for $15 (one time fee).
Starting July 1, 2003 - this will change to a one time $15 for 100mb upgrade. Anyone who is interested, or considered this option, it may be beneficial to sign up before the price change goes into effect.
-----------------------
Our bandwidth charges will also change on July 1. We currently charge $1.75 per GB of overage. Starting July 1, this price will drop to $1 per GB.
Thanks for your continued support.

Could you explain how the bandwith overage works.
Am I right in assuming that the site stays up and functional and then I'm just billed the overage at the end of the month.
What happens if I receive a DDoS attack or an email flood that has a large file attachment? Will I then be responsible for a 300+ GB overage?
I'm not expecting anything of the sort, but I'd like to cover my bases.
Yes, your assumptions are correct. If there's a significant overage, I would make every effort to notify the customer ... if I couldn't I might "slow down" the site with a throttle. If it's expected bandwidth (getting mentioned on TechTv ... or something similar) then just a quick note to let us know would be appreciated. It's always a good idea to keep a current e-mail address on file with us, for just such an occasion.
I'm always a little dumb but whats the 1 time fee stuff?
Supposedly you buy a plan..is it 350mb now..$50 a year? (approx)
We are told we are grandfathered into what you buy unless we want to opt for something else.
A one time fee does what?
-- just curious...
I wish hostpc well. People get tired of moving from hosts that vanish.
The latest craze seems to be;;;;WE GOT HACKED. The host vanishes with your money and no further contact of any kind.
I'm sure anybody is always open to hacking and if they say NO I guess its a bigger challenge for hackers.
It would seem if a host had a server that became so polluted by a hacker they would have a back-up server that was not polluted? --vs. the 'just disappear act'.....
I might add I've been with HostPc with one site for a year+ now and no or little problems.More like no problems.
I have asked...is HostPc profitable offering what it does? Answer seems so far..yes...
So many hosts claim you get what you pay for and if its above 25mb space...100mb transfer its impossible because this should be more like $25 a month......
Business sites=important=reliability,uptime...Personal sites? I don't want to pay a fortune.....
You should have just received my order for 3 of those upgrades. Seems prudent to keep my options open for future growth, especially since the price is definitely right. Thanks for the heads-up about the increase! :)
Thanks for your continued support... we're working VERY hard to make sure HostPC is here for a VERY long time... with your support, we'll keep succeeding!

ok..I read up on that one time buy an extra 200mb....
I try to think such does not by theory knock you out of your 'grandfathered plan'.
Plans/Prices change over time.
If I bought some 2 for 1 sale plan and was at 500 or 700mb already and promised price would remain the same at yearly renewal...well...the $15 purchase of an additional 200mb for the account would not affect grandfathered rate/plan/size?
Nobody can usually understand me (only I can) but say I've got an account at 500mb now for $50.00 a year.If I pay $15 it will be a 700mb account forever at $50.00?
I've asked several times about these recent sales but opted out.The $25 one was a good deal for a simple 'another personal website'. I have 2 accounts now I've hardly used and another? eeeeks... Once you add the domain cost to every new account it gets a little less cheap.
Hideous idea....sell sub-domain accounts? like the freebie places.... http://yourchoice.hostpc.com/
No need to buy another domain.
As to the hacking thing.
I just mentioned it because I just lost a whole 150mb website elsewhere. Host got hacked by some Brasil hackers group knOw and next you know the host is GONE along with your money and your site.
Then went to read some webhosting forums and that seems to be the trend.I even saw one in Albany,N.Y. The host vanishes. Efforts at contact bring an excuse..server hacked...Nobody ever knows if its legit but yor site and money is gone.
hello zz4
the answer is no, if you do a simple 200mb upgrade, it doesn't knock your price guarantee out the window. that is only if you did a full plan upgrade...a whole new package
about the subdomains of hostpc...it probably wont ever happen. joe has several reasons why he does not want to offer it.

What is the process to request one of these upgrades? Do we just make a PayPal transfer with a note of the domain included?
