View Full Version : Secure Control Panel Logins
We'll be implementing SECURE (https) control panel logins for all servers.
Instead of http:/wwwXX.hostpc.com:2222 or http://www.yourdomain.com:2222 - you'll now be REQUIRED to use HTTPS (instead of http)
UPDATE: All Hosting servers have been completed.
Resellers: Your servers will be done later today - to give you time to update your clients on the change, if necessary
Joe
As a note, you'll get a pop up warning you of an "unknown certificate" - thats fine, just accept the certificate, it's still encrypted, just not issued by a "trusted" provider for your browser. We custom issued the certificates, and it'll clearly say your server name on it - so you're safe to "permanently" accept it.

I dont know when and if this will be answered but have any users had a problem with logging in? I am on win98 and IE 5.002614.
Havn't been able to access things for a while, didnt get an email or anything about this new https: thing so I have been asking myself what happend did my account get canceled, few days ago got into it seriously cause customer (my only customer) needs to update his site.
So I opened my ticket(help desk) and they told me about the https: thing and I tried it,got back to them(they are pretty quick to reply and tried to help me out) kept telling me that its my fault and my browser is setup wrong (i tried to enable disable everything, i put security selector low-high) They also said i might have a firewall setup that is blocking my connection(i dont)
Things went from working to not working, guess security is good(too good) I can't even get to my own site ;-) I also got my ticket closed(yeah lol) so i am stuck with no access to a site i need to update, joe made a reccomendation to update everything, but why close my ticket?
So if anyone is using 98 and IE and had similar problems with the new security feature here please let me know im in a little jam... thanks in advance
You seriously need to update IE - that version is bad news as far as security goes. That is most likely the source of your problems.
Or, better yet, try Firefox. (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It's free and solves alot of other virus/malware problems, blocks popups, ... I'm using FF to do all the access to my website and it works fine.

I'd have to second Ozee's suggestions regarding alternate browsers and / or updating IE. You should be using IE6 if you really prefer IE.
I too have been using FireFox for a while now (since it was Phoenix) and I prefer it so much to IE.

www16 - reseller server isn't currently using a secure login - is that a known issue? will that be changing anytime soon?
I'll be sending a series of emails to all resellers concerning this, giving them PLENTY of notice before it's implemented. Figure by the end of the month.
