Did you read about what caused the software problem that caused Comair to shutdown over Christmas?
It seems their dispatch system can only handle about 32000 changes in a month. 16 bits is 32768.
With all the bad weather in the central part of the country, and then with the changes they had to make because they couldn't get de-ice fluid delivered, they just ran out of places to store the flight changes.
