Posting this for the benefit of those looking to do search engine optimization for their sites. This contrarian method would require some patience. :)

Don't submit your website to any search engines

That's right - this search engine optimisation article is telling you not to submit your website to any search engines. Not Google, not Inktomi, not AltaVista. Sounds a bit strange? Read on...

I have been saying submission more than once is a waste of time for ages...do a query on any search engine for your domain, if it's there, they know you are there and will return to index you regularily. I have been very successful with search engines, and I have not submitted a site for a years...

My thoughts on the subject if anyone cares: http://www.homerecordingconnection.com/new...ew_story&id=392 (http://www.homerecordingconnection.com/news.php?action=view_story&id=392)

I thought mr DB might have a comment on this.

I'll have to read that article (from the first post) since I've read a bunch of DB's stuff on SEO.

SEO is just like everything else I suppose, 10 different people will give you 10 different opinions :-) All I have to know is what I do works for me very well. Not saying other ideas won't ;-)

Just an FYI to add on the subject. The site I have been working on and recently posted in "show off your site" and "hiveminds" for feed back and help. In the last week it has been crawled by bots from msn, google, ask jeeves, yahoo, and others. I checked this a.m. for indexing in any of the listed SE's and I am already indexed in google. All the while I haven't really done any submissions to SE's.
